Knighthood for Carphone Warehouse founder Charles Dunstone

Carphone Warehouse founder and chairman Charles Dunstone tops a list of business luminaries singled out for recognition in the Queen’s birthday honours list.
Dunstone, who built the high street phone chain up from nothing into an international firm worth more than 650million, was knighted in a list that included a number of figures from the business community. He was awarded the honour for services to the mobile communications industry and to charity. Dunstone said he was ‘immensely proud and flattered’.
Lucy Neville-Rolfe, the British Retail Consortium deputy chairman and Tesco’s corporate affairs director, has been made a Dame for her work in industry and voluntary service.

fashion sector saw Emma Hill, creative director of Mulberry, named a
CBE. There was also a CBE for the City of London’s policy chief Stuart
Fraser, who was honoured for services to the Square Mile.
Keith Hamill, the chairman of
brokerage Tullett Prebon and former finance chief of WH Smith, was among
business figures awarded the OBE. Brian Winterflood, of Winterflood
Securities, a veteran broker and generous charitable donor, was made an
MBE, for his contribution to financial services.
Sahar Hashemi, who co-founded Coffee
Republic with her brother Bobby, was recognised with an OBE. Skincare
doyenne Eve Lom, who founded the brand of the same name, was named an
Dr Peter Bonfield, chief executive of
building and engineering group BRE, was given an OBE for services to
research and innovation in the construction industry.
